Refund Policy and Cancellation
Individual-based Genetic Consultations (General Chats and General Care Genetic Counseling)
Discovery Genetics will charge a $15 cancellation fee more than 48 hours from your appointment. The fee will increase to $50 if you cancel less than 48 hours in advance.
Unfortunately, we cannot accept insurance payments right now because insurance plans vary so widely.
If you decide to file a reimbursement claim, please contact your insurance company and make sure that your health plan covers the genetic counseling service (CPT code: 96040) provided by a board certified genetic counselor through Telehealth. Please also make sure you follow their instructions and complete their requirements (e.g., a prior authorization and/or a physician’s referral, if there is any). Please be aware that the reimbursement may be less than the amount you actually paid. The reimbursement will go directly to patients.
You can also contact your insurance plan to find other genetic counselors who accept your insurance payments.
Group Consultation:
Cancellations:
Refunds for group consultations will be issued if cancelled more than 48 hours in advance. Any cancellations less than 48 hours will be charged the full fee and the session will continue for the other group members who have signed up. At our sole discretion, we reserve the right to cancel group consultations at any time. Any group that cannot meet the minimum requirement of 5 people 48 hours in advance of the consultation will be automatically cancelled.
Exploratory Seminar:
Tickets will be non-refundable for exploratory seminars. All sales are final.
