Discovery Genetics, LLC was founded on the belief that independent genetic counseling can best serve patients. Discovery Genetics (DG) values patient-centered care and its counseling implements a patient-centered approach. Genetic counselors at Discovery respect an individual’s preferences, needs, values and beliefs. Genetic counselors listen to their patients, analyze their personal and family medical history, assess risks for possible genetic diseases, provide information, education and emotional support to them, and help them find better resources and make informed decisions. DG’s goals are to empower patients, help them detect cause of genetic disease, and help their doctors develop more effective medical management or prevention plan.
